How'd you spend your Saturday?
I spent mine sanding the ceiling in our bedroom. And then cleaning up the dust.
The previous owner just troweled on the ceiling plaster in big swooshing motions, then never sanded it smooth. I guess she was doing a cheap or more "artistic" variation of that textured popcorn ceiling stuff.
Jen hates it. So I'm tasked with removing it, then smoothing the ceiling so we can repaint the bedroom.
I spent four hours sanding, three hours cleaning up. I swept, Shop-Vac-ed, Swiffered, mopped and Lemon Pledged everything in the bedroom. I did more cleaning today than I have in the previous seven-plus years of my marriage.
The worst part? I only got about a fourth of it done.

Now you know why I haven't finished the steps ... I hate cleaning up after sanding. And it's not just cleaning one room. That stuff goes everywhere, even under the crack at the bottom of closed doors and into rooms I thought were sealed off. Now Katie will pressure me to finish my sanding project -- thanks Scott.
She won't be pressuring you to do it if she saw the photo I sent to Jen's phone. I wrote "Hi" in dust on her dresser. Dust so thick I could have filmed a scene from "Scarface" with it.
Oh, and I'm still cleaning up this freakin dust.
It had better be clean by the time I get home tomorrow!!
xoxo - ha ha ;)
Stories like this are why I am still glad I rent...If something goes wrong...the landlord fixes it...NOT ME!
I consider myself a fairly observant person and I've stayed in Casa de Faldon on many an occasion, but I have never noticed the ceilings.
Floors? Yes?
That mysterious cavern underneath the heating grate? Yes.
The odd little deck off the living room? Yes.
Ceilings? No.
In ME news: I have mice and I think they are from the Rats of NIMH. I set out a sticky trap where I thought they might be running in and out of. It was pushed out of the way.
The mice in my house are, apparently, bright enough to know what a trap is and work around it.
