Pubs in peril

I miss going to Papa's. But it's not high beer prices keeping me away, it's the smoke. Not the case in jolly ole England ...

LONDON (AP) — Raise a pint to the old British pub: Dark-paneled, fixed on the English landscape — and, more than ever these days, empty.

Beer sales in British pubs have slumped to their lowest level since the Great Depression, including a 10 percent drop in pints drawn in just the past year, an industry group said Monday.

It will be a sad day, indeed if they quit exporting Murphy's, Boddington's, and Guinness. Love live the beers of the world. Mmm...CZ

During my summer in Ireland/England...My goal each and every day was to hit a pub and have a pint of Guinness. Not just because it is one of the best beverages in the world...but because pubs were the central gatering spot in many of the small towns were visited. Often people would start talking to me and after a pint or two , it was like I was their long lost cousin from Texas...It was a part of life in the town...and i got to be a part of it for a few short months..It will be a sad day if this tradition continues to wither away :(

Everytime I see this post, I think "pubes" in peril. ha. That would be an entirely different post (or blog for that matter) I'm sure.
